In this excerpt from Ernest hemingway's "in another country", which sentence shows the low self-esteem of the soldiers and their belief that being a soldier has nothing to do with bravery?

    It had something to do with the medals. Nick was given a medal only because he was an American. The other Italians put their lives on the line and that is why they got their medals but it is not just getting a medal but how you earn it by being brave in battle. Nick felt he did not earn his and feels alienated as a result.
