Hemingway is most known for his novels and short stories, and many of them were made into movies. In 1938 he wrote his only play, The Fifth Column. What is most likely the reason this was his only play? A. The play was panned by the critics. B. He wasn't good with dialogue. C. It failed at the box office. D. He didn't like the medium.

    Hemingway said the following regarding the play:

    "If you write a play, you have to stick around and fix it up," he said. "They always want to fool around with them to make them commercially successful, and you don't like to stick around that long. After I've written, I want to go home and take a shower."
