The Gift of the Magi is a short story written by O. Henry, the American writer. In this story, there are two main characters and those are Jim and Della, married couple. This couple's financial situation is bad because they are having little money and they are living in one modest apartment. Considered by them, they had two treasures which were Della's hair and Jim's father's gold pocket.

Their story is showing love. On Christmas Eve they both wanted to give something to each other but they did not have enough money so they both have sold their ''treasures'' in order to buy gifts for each other. Della bought her husband chain for his pocket watch but Jim sell hid watch in order to buy her decorative hair combs which were useless for her at the end because she sold her hair because she got 20 USD for that which was enough to buy Jim a present. Their financial situation is not affecting their love and behavior in their marriage. They are showing love, self-sacrifice and many values of one human being.
