Answer: Between 1939 to 1945 children were evacuated from their homes in the city to country side temporary in Britain during world war 2. This was done to keep the children and women safe from the hands of the enemy and bombing in the city.

The evacuation process came to an end after world war 2 was over. This was in 1946 and most of the children were returned home to London.
