Before I got here, I didn't understood ken's experience. But I was in culture shock since I arrive, and I am learning a new job too! Now I know what a rough time Jen had at first. Is this a correct sentence?

    Before I got here, I didn't understand Ken's experience. But I was in culture shock since I arrived and I am learning a new job too! Now I know what a rough time Jen had at first. I would suggest not using the word "but" to begin a sentence, it is improper ... you can keep but, but it needs to state "Ken's experience, but I was in culture ..."
