In what way is the character sir Gawain different from other epic heroes such as Beowulf

    Gawain was more a description of the code of chivalry that was present in England at the time than Beowulf, who was an example of the warrior culture of the Anglo-Saxons. Gawain's test was one that proved his integrity, while Beowulf had a test that was to prove his strength and leadership abilities.
