Equiano was "handled and tossed up" by some of the crew as soon as he was taken onboard. why? what would have happened to him if the crew had found him unsatisfactory?

    He was "handled and tossed up" by the crew to ensure that he was fit enough to travel by sea. If Equaino was not able to meet their standard, he will then be returned to his African slavers because they will not get enough money from him.
