Yevgeny became fustrated after attempting to reason logically with his son because every attempt he made to let his son know that smoking is bad seemed futile. He finds that all of his logical arguments were hollow and ineffectual.

His seven-year old son seemed to be absent-minded at times and some other times, yet to be convinced logically to stop smoking.
