Figures of speech in the poem When giving is all we have:

'When Giving is all we have' is a beautiful poem written by Alberto Rios where he states that giving makes us a better human being and we should always be grateful for all that we have. Throughout the poem the poet have made use of some figures of speech, Anaphora is one of those. Anaphora is type of figure of speech where same words are repeated at the beginning of a sentence. In the poem, the initial lines begins with the common repeated phrase, 'We give because', thus making it an Anaphora. Apart from this, the line 'Giving has many faces' is an example of Personification where giving is given a human quality of having many faces. By this he meant that giving can be in any form - be it a kind act, be it in the form of money, or simply in the form of words of appreciation.
