Make requests, respond and continue the conversation in the following situations.

1 You want your father / mother to give you a lift into town.

He/she is expecting an important phone call and doesn't want to leave the house.

2 your parents want you to tidy your room after school as they have a guest coming to stay. You want to watch a friend play in a football match.

3 your older brother / sister has had some photos developed and wants you to fetch them on your may home from school. You have promised to go to the cinema with a friend.

    1 - First assess the importance of going to town. If it has any relation to school emphasize those characteristics of the trip. If not reason with the parent and come up with a better time or day to make the trip. Be sure to weigh your pros cons and reasons before approaching the parent, and always remember if you want something be polite.

    2 - Let your friend know you can't attend and go home to complete your chores. You never know; You may have time to still make it to the game afterwards.

    3 - Ask your sibling When he / she needs the photos by to see the level of importance. You may be able to pick them up after the movie.
