Does the sentence state a fact or an opinion? Polar bears in the wild live on thousands of miles of open space, so when they are confined to zoo exhibits that are a fraction of that size, polar bears often pace back and forth.

    This is a fact, it is stating something that actually happens to the polar bears while they are confined.

    An opinion would be: "Polar bears pace back and forth because they miss their home, and other polar bears." That is not a fact, that is what someone thinks about the polar bears pacing back and forth.
