In Romeo and Juliet, women were depicted as inferior human beings who should remain subjective to their parents and their husbands. Their major role in life was considered to be that of pleasing their parents, husbands, keeping the home and taking care of the children. They were considered as men's properties and men can treat them anyway they like. In the play, all the women involved had minor roles with the exception of Juliet who was a main character.
