Perception is influenced by situational outcomes.

Saul had situational experiences that were not positive. The outcome he might have expected (the the nursing home to be a nice, kind, caring place) were not supported by what he experienced (rudeness and mean people). His perception of the entire place becomes influenced by these situations.
