Amongst the most violent against him was Mrs. Bennet, whose dislike of his general behaviour was sharpened into particular resentment by his having slighted one of her daughters.

Mrs. Bennet didn't like the way he acted because he slighted one of her daughters.

    the answer would be c because in the first sentance it basically says the dislike of his behavior was turned into pure hate meanwhile the second sentance just explains she disliked him.
