Describe the narrow escape of the Nautilus after having reached the South Pole.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

After reaching the north pole, Nautilus was suddenly found to be trapped on its side and driven down by sinking blocks of ice. The event was as a result of a mountain of ice slowly eroding at its base due to warmer waters below or repeated collision. This activities shifts its center of mass up causing the ice mountain to somersault and some of it to break off. Fate had it that the Nautilus was underneath just at the right time to be toppled and weighed down by some of the falling ice blocks. To prevent been pinned down and eventually running out of breathable air, the ship's ballast were emptied of water so as for it to float to the top. After a laborious effort, the ship was finally floated up to mid-water and turned to its upright state and the ice blocks fell of leaving the ship free to sail away from that incident site.
