    (d.) because Shaw used his play to comment on class structure. Shaw's intention in writing the play was to critique the society that was very patriarchal. This was written before women were allowed to vote; thus, Shaw wanted to eradicate social class and elevate the status of women. In the play he showed that manners can be learned and that language plays a very important role in social development.
