    For the first question, both of the characters are looking for something. they have their own motivation. The man is shown as dull in that he expects to see a younger woman, and he didn't realize that this elder woman is the one he's looking for.

    For the second question, it is when he has found the person he's looking for and she is right in front of him, but he failed to see her.
