What is the connection between the ice storm and the bent birches?

    In Robert Frost's poem, "Birches", the ice storm is what causes the birch trees to bend the way they do. The speaker chooses to believe that they look this way because a child was swinging on them, but the ice storm is what really causes them to bend.
