She is very skillful in weaving. Constant praises made her very proud and arrogant. She even boasted that she is more talented than Athena.
Her pride became her downfall. She challenged Athena to show that she is more talented and skillful in weaving than the goddess. However, when it became apparent to her that Athena surpasses her skills, she became insulting to Athena. In the end, she was punished by Athena by turning her into a spider.
