    Alice Walker in her poem "Women" had used metaphor to focus on the struggles of the women that they had to undergo to attain certain freedom and rights for themselves and for their upcoming generations too. She compares women's struggle to that of a soldier fighting and struggling to secure education for the new generation.

    "How hey led armies"

    The barriers she faces during the war are the representation of the difficulties and hardships that the society forces upon her path.

    "Bobby trapped ditches"

    The women in the American society knew this very well that how much is the education important in one's life. Hence, she wants her children to attain education at any cost even they themselves were uneducated.

    Without knowing a page of it"
