A woman's role in a house wasn't useless, or Less important in any way than a man's job of Hard Labor for Pay. The Woman stayed in the house and tended to the Needs of the Children/Next Generation, in a way, that was more important than Money, if there was such a society, the woman's use at the time would be far more important.

They got their "Equality" but they traded that for something else, and unfortunately, the kids aren't getting the attention they need anymore.
