a) Simon Wheeler is a foil to the narrator

Wheeler is the complete opposite of the narrator. Wheeler has less money, wears won out clothes, and is less educated. He is also not in a hurry to move on to something different. The narrator is from the East with more money, finer clothes, and a better education. He is in a hurry to continue with his travels.
