In macbeth, the witches have a particular style of speech. how many words can you give to describe it? why do you think shakespeare made them talk like that?

    Generally, the witches speak in a trochaic rhythm (sets of two syllables that alternate stressed then unstressed - - the opposite of iambic), with shorter lines of 8 syllables rather than 10 syllables. This sets them apart from the traditional characters, because their speech rhythm is different so it makes them seem more mystical and magical.
