    It means that B Mothers are nurturers and protectors of children in good times and in bad.

    When Achebe mentioned the word supreme, i believe he meant that the mother roles is irreplacable in the Igbo society. As the main nurturers and protectors of the children, every men and women in Igbo society are all indebted toward their mothers so they need to take care of them in their old age.
