The story of the warrior queen, whom in this case is the Greek goddess Tebe, is that she had refuge in the ancient city of Cadmea during the war of succession of the Royal House of Thebes.

During this war, according to the Greek Mythology, the twins Amphion and Zethus aasaulted Cadmea to expell King Lycus. Once they seized the city of Cadmea, Lycus married Tebe and in her honor, he changed the name to Thebes.
