The first plays to be called comedies and tragedies were:

    Greek drama

    Explanation:

The reasons behind this answer are: First of all, the ancient greek drama was founded in 600 BC making it one of the oldest forms of theatre. However, the factors that defined them as comedies and tragedies were that for the tragedy the stories surrounded characters that very often faced many obstacles to achieve their purposes and had to lose many to achieve them to end in an ending that didn't fill them completely but partially, many times also they died. Now, for comedy they used to face ugly or bad scenarios that didn't bring pain or disaster to the main characters, instead they just accompanied them to fulfill their objectives. They were the very first forms of plays in the 500BC and 490BC.
