Which word in the sentence is the participle?

In 1697, Charles Perrault published the first version of Sleeping Beauty.

    Okay, Participles are a little tricky. But they are mainly formed from a verb, used as adjectives, and pretty much used as nouns. They are, in writing, more or less used to make the compound verb forms for words and stuff. So, I believe, based upon this definition, that the word would be published.
