The Supreme Court decided to overturn Plessy v. Ferguson because "separate is inherently unequal".

Plessy v. Ferguson was a case in which the decision of the Supreme Court was to support the constitutionality of racial segregation in public places. This decision established the doctrine "separate but equal" and, at the same time, it is considered one of the worst decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States for being extremely racist. However, in the case Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court decided to invalidate the decision of the case Plessy v. Ferguson for considering that "separate is inherently unequal".
