    Answer: The significance is great, because one meaning that this particular short story has, is what happens when people stay with out dated traditions, that other areas considered not right. It could mean that they are close minded, or afraid of change. Another reason is because they have done it for so long, they cannot comprehend not doing it. (It would be like doing your birthday every year, but this year, your parents decided that no, birthdays are no longer a thing.
