Read the following passage:

I had often walked through the woods on my way to Bert's

house. So often, in fact, that I often did it unconsciously.

About 10 minutes into my walk, I suddenly looked up.

Where had that elm tree come from? I'd never seen it

before. I looked around. There was no path. All around me

were trees. I carefully stepped forward, increasingly

worried.

Which of the following statements is the best inference about the story?

The statement that is the best inference about this story is "The narrator has become lost in the woods"

    Explanation:

The narrator starts the statement explaining how going to Bert's house was a very common activity, in fact, it could be considered as routinary as he speaks, and as he started his way to a commonplace he suddenly realized that his automated movement had taken him to a place that he was not aware of, making logic the thought that he was lost.
