Which of these factors contributed to the popularity of novels during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries? Most novels illustrated travels to exotic or unexplored locations. Most novels described the negative aspects of a society or country. Most novels depicted the lives of the middle and working classes. Most novels denounced the upper class and noble families.

    "Most novels illustrated travels to exotic or unexplored locations" would be the best option since the Age of Exploration had recently taken place and people liked to "escape" to new and exciting worlds.

    In 18th century, new literary genre named modern novel was developed. Modern novel is characterized being longer than previously published works. 18th century was also notable for the Enlightenment Period which explored the themes like social upheaval, political satire and geographical exploration. However, 19th century is rich with realistic depictions, notably George Eliot's Middlemarch. Authors depict everyday activities and experiences. Therefore, these periods illustrates travels and exploration according to the facts.
