Based on Dante the character's actions, what did Dante the poet most likely consider heroic?

The fact that he was able to travel through Hell despite his fears and follows his guide Virgil as he travels there shows his heroic side. There many levels of Hell and all of them were frightening to behold. It would take a lot of courage to keep going and he does that.
