What is the resentment of the american colonists against the harsh policies of the British government

The American colonists believe that the King of Britain only cares about himself and Britain, and that America is not a part of his agenda. They believe that they only suffer due to all the wars cause by the British empire and would rather form alliances with countries such as France and Spain, not fight against them, which they constantly do, due to Britain.
