    This is an excerpt from Weldon's "Letters to Alice: on First Reading Jane Austen". The whole book is about the author trying to convince her niece on the reasons why she should want to read Jane Austen, instead of reading it just as an assignment. Therefore, the best answer is Jane Austen.
