When thinking about the difference between persuasion and manipulation, it’s good to first realize that they both have a similar outcome, generally-to get one to act or think a certain way. However, it’s the means to this outcome and rationale that give these two words different meanings. Persuasion is more of a neutral word where one is moved to act or believe based upon reasons/arguments. Manipulation, however, has more of a negative connotation where action is brought about by devious means that can be considered to be to another’s advantage.
