The symbol used in the novel to represent the judgment are the disembodied eyes. The connection is made between the eyes of Dr. J. Eckleburg who are always looking just like the eyes of God who can not be deceived. Despite the absence of religion in history, God is still present and will always be, He sees everything and is the one who judges us because he knows us very well. These eyes are in an advertisement on the way to the hotel plaza in Manhattan.

The Great Gatsby talks about the judgment over society and economic levels. We can see in the opulence of the parties and in the well-defined separation between the high-class people and the low-class people. A very important symbol is the billboard eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg, they are a representation of the judgment over society becoming more and more vane as time passes by and focusing only in material good at the same time as they get totally disconnected from their spiritual and true essence on favor of money.
