In "Why, You Reckon?" why don't the narrator and the other man want to hold Edward for ransom? Is their motivation internal or external?

    Well i reckon (see what i did there) it was because he kept causing trouble and made the kidnappers angry and kinda scared of him ... in a way. they didnt want to deal with him anymore so they just gave him back

    (This story kinda reminds me of a show, but the kidnapped guy, which is my avatar, got angry and banged on the cage. So then the cage opened.)
