Upon hearing the word myth, people directly think of stories about the creation of the world and adventures of gods and heroes. This is true. However, a myth is much more than that. Myth basically comes in a time when science isn't practiced yet. It is people's way of explaining things. Mythology, then, are stories that outline the belief, tradition, and structure of a society. Greek mythology reflects Greek culture as Indian mythology reflects Indian culture. These stories tell us as much about a society as historical and geographical books.
