    I don't know whether you have any options, because you haven't given us any, but here is how I would combine these two sentences:

    Thomas Paine authored The Crisis, as well as Common Sense, which argued for American Independence from Britain.

    Or you could just place the other sentence in the end:

    Thomas Paine authored Common Sense, which argued for American Independence from Britain, and he also wrote The Crisis.
