    A container is what contains the work being cited. For example, if the citation is for a song, the container would be the album in which the song is found. If the citation is for an article, the container is the magazine or journal from which the article came. If the citation is for an encyclopedia entry, the container is the entire encyclopedia. A container holds, or contains, things. A container in MLA citation is where the source is found.
