    The postmodernism movement was an outcome of World War II. As the video shows, the United States focused on production of nuclear weapons in the event of a nuclear war. US society also underwent many changes after the war. Industrialization created new jobs, and the economy flourished. Postmodernist authors such as Joseph Heller and Kurt Vonnegut wrote about war or postwar periods while exploring themes such as the harmful effects of technology, the fear of war, and the paranoia about nuclear weapons. They used postmodern techniques including nonchronological timeframe, satire, and unconventional forms.
