    A topic sentence refers to the main sentence of a paragraph that introduce what the paragraph is all about. The topic sentence contains the principal idea that the paragraph wants to discuss and other sentences in the paragraph are built around the topic sentence.

    For instance, for the topic sentence in option B, the other sentences in the paragraph will discuss the reasons why the writer disagree with Martin's ideas.
