Oh definitely. Most scholars believe Fairies originate in Irish folklore. Many different variations of fairies are recorded in the lore. Some of the more popular ones being water lilies, water fairies and forrest fairies such as Tinker-bell from Peter Pan and her friends. The ancient Egyptians believed in a form of "fairy godmothers", much like the fair godmothers portrayed in Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. The Grimm brothers were some of the first to give such mythology a sort of story/history. Just like the belief in a higher power I. E. God, gods, Allah, Yahweh, etc is in just about every religion and mythology, fairies take many forms and beliefs in most other mythologies.
