    The tone used by the author of "Samuel's Memory" most clearly when retelling his great-great grandfather's story is sad and angry. The story is a retelling based on a true story of the young 9 year old boy who traveled on the Trail of Tears. it describes the young boys hatred for the white man and how when they looked at him they only saw the color of his skin.
