    1) The first reason more refers to popularity in his country. His invention of wind turbine that spent a few electrical appliances. This engineering marvel was created by using blue gum trees, some bicycle parts, and some other materials collected from local scrapyard.

    2) The next invention that deserved spreading of his popularity was a water pump that could be powered by solar energy. This invention was very useful for common people as it was meant to supply the first drinking water in his village.

    3) This event spread his popularity all over the world. The Daily Times wrote a book about his achievements and since it was a commercially successful project, Kamkwamba was invited to TED conference where he told about his life and experiences.
