How does the author in first love change over the course of the memoir

"First Love" is written by Judith Ortiz Cofer. It describes her experience of her first love. She was a young Puerto Rican girl and her crush was a rich Italian. They lived in different worlds and she knew that he was out of her reach and that he probably didn't even notice her. Even so, she purposely went out of her way to go to the grocery store where he worked just to catch a glimpse of him. She is infatuated. As the story continues, she notices the boy looking intently at her and becomes giddy with emotion. He kisses her out of the blue and she can't stop thinking about him. However, she later realizes that it was just a game for him and that she was just another girl for him. She later learns that love is not easy and how to make her intentions known.
