What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners?

    Explanation:

Amy Tan's short story/narrative "Fish Cheeks" is a recollection of her experience during her younger days when she was stuck between her own identity and the attempt to fit in an American culture.

She narrates how she tried hard to be 'normal' in front of her crush Robert and his family when they came to her home for Christmas Eve dinner. She was embarrassed about her Chinese upbringing and family manners, and she was also stuck in between being Chinese and American at the same time. The sentence where she doubts what the Minister's family will think of her "noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners" gives us a view of what her family is like.
