What does Montaigne mean when he says that the savages are "wild in the same sense that fruits are

    Without more context as to the passage I can assume that he means in the sense how fruits are natural, in tune with the wild. They are a production of the environment they live in, nature causes them to thrive though it also molds them into maintaining a wild demeanor that they would only maintain if unsupervised. Same with the savages.
