    The main conflict in this part of the story is Ponyboy vs. the Socs. It is the main conflict because it creates the action of the scene and drives the plot.

    In the outsiders, the main conflict would be the tension between the greasers and the Socs. This is because the reason Ponyboy and Johnny ran away started from a fight they had against the Socs when Johnny killed Bob.
