Read the excerpt from "The Sky Will Not Fall." Without thinking, he twisted his torso to roll out of bed, expecting his legs to follow. In an extremely painful instant, he was reminded of the shattered bones in his right leg. His cry brought his wife, Caroline, running in from the yard to check on him. She went immediately to his side and pulled the quilt back to uncover the injured leg. What is the purpose of this descriptive narration? to give a detailed description of the result of William's injury to provide backstory about William and Caroline's relationship to give a detailed description of how the war changed Caroline to provide backstory about how William's injury occurred

to give a detailed description of the result of William's injury

in the passage, William's injury is described as "shattered bones in his right leg." Part of answering this question for me was process of elimination. The descriptive narration does not describe William and Caroline's relationship. It only identifies her as his wife. We also don't know enough about Caroline from this passage to know if she changed or not. Lastly, the narration does not tell us how he was injured.
